AMHERST, N.Y. – For the first time in her career, graduate student Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) was tabbed to the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference First Team, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.

Rubio is joined on the first team by Anaya Brons, Courtney Fyvie and Elise Semmartin of St. Thomas Aquinas College, Caroline Hany-Fawzy of Queens and Polina Zelentsova of the University of the District of Columbia.

Rubio, who was named the 2021 ECC Rookie of the Year, ends her collegiate career with her first career appearance on the ECC All-Conference First Team after compiling a 7-4 singles record during the Fall while playing all her matches played on the No. 1 court. The team leader in conference singles wins with three, Rubio opened conference play with wins against Desire Parn (6-3, 6-3) of the University of the District of Columbia and second team selection Maja Makal (6-4, 4-6, 10-5) of Queens University. The graduate student earned her team-leading third conference win of the year on Oct. 11 against Emily Baughman Saunders (6-2, 6-1) of Molloy University.

Playing on No. 1 doubles all season, Rubio compiled a 6-6 record with five wins coming alongside primary partner Bella Bjerkan (Elmhurst, Ill.) and one with Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.). Rubio was the only member of the Blue and White to appear in at least 10 matches and play on the same court for singles and doubles each time. For her career, Rubio ranks fourth all-time for career singles wins with 78 and third all-time for career doubles wins with 39.

Rubio and the Wildcats are back in action on Friday Oct. 25 to face No. 1 seeded Queens in the semifinal round of the ECC Women's Tennis Championship. Opening serve from Flushing, N.Y., is set for 12 p.m.
