HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Daemen University men's track and field team began their indoor season by competing at the Houghton December Classic held at the Kerr-Pegula Field House on the campus of Houghton University.
Junior
Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdle while sophomore
Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) turned in a top-three performance in the men's mile highlighted the Wildcats efforts in the season-opening meet.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Kamagate began his day by finishing first in his heat of the 60 meters hurdles with a then school-record time of 8.63 seconds. The Hilton, N.Y., native broke his own record shortly after and claimed first in the 60 meters hurdles final with a time of 8.62 seconds.
• Junior
Aidan Kincaid (Orchard Park, N.Y.) carried his success over from his cross country season onto the track as he finished eighth in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:56.78. His time also now ranks seventh all-time as well.
• Sophomore
Seth Connery (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) led Daemen's efforts in the 60 meters dash as he placed first in his heat and 11
th overall with a final time of 7.24 seconds.
• Keating started his 2024-25 indoor campaign on a high note as he finished the mile race with a time of 4:39.49 and finished third out of a field of 37.
• In the 300 meters, Kamagate turned in an eighth-place finish with a time of 37.69 seconds. Last season, the junior set a school-record time of 37.64 seconds.
• Junior
Josh Trometer (Lancaster, N.Y.) set a new personal-best in the 600 meters with a time of 1:33.70.
• In the long jump, sophomore
Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.) led all Daemen jumpers (6.10 meters), falling .03 short of setting a new career-high.
