AMHERST, N.Y. - Connor O'Brien (Hamburg, N.Y.) of the Daemen University men's track & field team has earned NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region honors as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) from the organization's headquarters in New Orleans, La. The top five individuals in each event from each of the eight NCAA Division II regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West) earned the All-Region distinction.

O'Brien earns the honor in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. He becomes just the second student-athlete from Daemen to earn USTFCCCA all-region honors during the outdoor season in program history. He joins Sullivan Keller, who earned the honor in the hammer throw in 2021.

A senior, O'Brien completed his fourth season with the team this spring. He participated in all five meets this spring and ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase twice. At the Brockport Multi Invitational he placed third out of 14 entrants with a program record time of 9:57.19, eclipsing the previous best time of 10:07.00 he set at the same event last spring. He competed in the steeplechase again at the ECC Championships and collected first team All-ECC honors after placing first out of 10 entrants with a time of 10:04.26, which ranks as the second fastest time in program history behind his program record of 9:57.19. He becomes the first athlete in program history to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the ECC Outdoor Championships. He earned second team All-ECC honors in the steeplechase in 2021 and 2023. His program record time of 9:57.19 ranks as the fifth fastest time in the East region this year. Also a member of the Daemen cross country team, he has earned second team All-ECC honors in cross country each of the last three seasons.

The Daemen men placed fourth out of six teams at the 2024 ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
