Bailey and Brasacchio Pace Daemen at Winter Welcome Back to Brockport Meet

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Daemen women's track and field team took part in the Winter Welcome Back to Brockport Meet in their first event of the 2025 calendar year. The event was held from the Brockport Special Events Center Friday night.
 
Freshman Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.) placed second in the 500 meters final in her first competition of the season while graduate student Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.) took home the 3000 meters crown to highlight the Wildcats efforts.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• Starting on the track, junior Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) led all Daemen sprinters placed 10th out of all sprinters in the women's 60 meters preliminaries with a time of 8.49 seconds.
• Schultz continued her hot start to the indoor season in the 60 meters hurdles as she placed fifth (10.16).
• In her first event of the indoor season, freshman Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.) place first in her section and second overall with a time of 1:26.29 in the 500 meters race.
• Graduate student Emma Grzebinski (West Seneca, N.Y.) placed seventh in the 800 meters race with a time of 2:35.55. It was her first time running in the event since Jan. 26, 2024, at the RIT January Friday Meet.
• Daemen landed atop the podium in the 3000 meters as Bailey came in first, winning the event with a time of 11:08.70.
• Out in the field, sophomore D'Naesha Quicksey (Buffalo, N.Y.) set a new career-high and placed ninth in the high jump (1.34 meters).
• Senior Alyssa Amirato (Depew, N.Y.) finished the afternoon in sixth for triple jump with a final distance of 9.80 meters.
• Sophomore Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y) paced the Wildcats throwing efforts as she placed second in weight throw with a final distance of 14.79 meters. The Massena, N.Y., native also set a new personal best in shot put and placed eighth overall (10.77 meters).
 
UP NEXT
The 'Cats will continue their indoor season with return trip to Houghton, N.Y., to compete in the Highlander Invitational on Jan. 25. The event is set to start at 10:30 a.m.
