Men's Tennis Releases 2025 Schedule

AMHERST, N.Y. -- The Daemen University men's tennis team will play 13 games in the spring portion of their 2024-25 season, head coach Richard Greco announced today. The spring slate includes seven home games and six road games as well as matches against opponents from all three NCAA divisions. 

The Wildcats will play three matches in the month of February, kicking off their spring schedule on Sunday, Feb. 2 with a home match against Walsh University at Miller Tennis Center. Daemen will travel to Erie, Pa. to play at Division I Mercyhurst University (Feb. 10) and wrap up February play with a home match against Edinboro University (Feb. 23). 

Daemen plays back-to-back away games against a pair of Division III teams in St. Lawrence University (March 8) and St. John Fisher University (March 15) before returning home for four straight matches. The Wildcats open East Coast Conference play against St. Thomas Aquinas College where they will play the Spartans in back-to-back days, March 22-23 at Miller Tennis Center. Daemen hosts Bloomsburg University (March 28) for the second time this season, and closes out the month of March with a home tilt against the University of the District of Columbia on March 29. 

The Wildcats open April on the road with a pair of games in the DMV area against Division III Marymount University (April 3) and UDC (April 4) before returning back to Western New York for their final home match of the season against Queens College (April 12). Daemen wraps up the regular season on the road at Queens on April 18.

The ECC tournament is set for April 25-26, and the ECC-CACC Finals is slated for Saturday, May 3. 

The women's tennis program will play an abbreviated five match spring schedule as well after winning a program record nine matches during the fall. Daemen will face Mercyhurst (Feb. 19), Shippensburg (Feb. 22), East Stroudsburg (March 1) and Binghamton (April 13) at home. They will also be in action on March 8 at St. Lawrence at the same time as the men's team for their lone away contest of the spring. 

The Wildcats return six players from the 2023-24 team along with the addition of freshman Vondin Henderson (Tonawanda, N.Y.) who participated in the fall slate. Daemen went 2-5 in the fall portion of the season. Senior Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) and junior Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Netherlands) led the Wildcats with four singles victories a piece in the fall, with Alvarez going 2-2 in No. 1 singles and 2-0 in No. 2 singles and Chitanand compiling all four wins at No. 5 singles. In doubles action in the fall, the No. 3 pairing of Chitanand and senior Jayven Williamson (Minneapolis, Minn.) led the Cats with four doubles wins while the second doubles duo of sophomores Lasse Mergens (Bochum, Germany) and Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) finished with a 3-1 record in No. 2 doubles play.
