YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – The Daemen University women's track and field team competed in the YSU Mid Major Invitational over the past two days from Jan. 31 through Feb. 1.
Graduate student
Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 1000 meters and junior
Samantha Kabel (Alexander, N.Y.) finished fourth in the weight throw open division to highlight the 'Cats efforts at the two-day event.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Beginning on the track, Bailey placed fifth and set a new personal best in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:07.92
• Bailey was not the only runner to place within the top eight as graduate student
Emma Grzebinski (West Seneca, N.Y.) finished seventh with a time of 3:19.61.
• In the 500 meters race, freshman
Lia Brasacchio finished in sixth and set a new personal best with a time of 1:23.54.
• Elsewhere on the track, junior
Patsy Oberholzer (junior) finished in 13
th out of 33 runners in the 5000 meters with a time of 19:55.55.
• In the 3000 meters, Bailey secured a personal best in the event and placed sixth with a time of 10:34.04.
• In the women's shot put open division, sophomore
Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) finished seventh with a throw of 10.44 meters. The Massena, N.Y., native also placed sixth in the weight throw elite division with a final distance of 15.44 meters.
• In the weight throw open division, Kabel secured fourth with a season-best throw of 12.99 meters while sophomore
Grace Covey (Clarence, N.Y.) ended in seventh with a personal best toss of 12.73 meters.
