STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's track & field team ended their 2024-25 indoor season at the East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday afternoon at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Wildcats totaled 18 points in the team standings to finish in a tie for ninth place among the 11 competing teams. Roberts Wesleyan University totaled 120 points and claimed their fifth conference title for indoor track and field, edging out preseason co-favorite and runner-up Felician University (112 points).
Sophomore
Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) and grad student
Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.) posted top three finishes in the weight throw and one mile run, respectively, to highlight the Wildcats' effort at the event.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Starting on the track in the one mile, Bailey ended her indoor season on a high note as she placed third with a time of 5:26.76. It marked her second top three finish in the event this season.
• Junior Patsy Obenholzer (Greece, N.Y.) placed fourth in the women's 5,000 meters with a final time of 19:13.70.
• Fellow junior
Alexis Nguyen (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished the 800 meters in 2:41.20 and placed eighth.
• Daemen had two top 10 finishes in the 1,000 meter run with sophomore Maddie Straub (Olean, N.Y.) placing seventh (3:21.55) and
Emma Grzebinski (West Seneca, N.Y.) placing ninth (3:23.89).
• The 'Cats had three top 10 finishes in the 3,000 meters, highlighted by Bailey's seventh place finish (10:58.80).
• At the jump pit, junior
Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished 11th in the long jump with a final distance of 4.84 meters.
• Off the track, Oliver claimed second place in the weight throw with a final distance of 14.93 meters. This indoor season, Oliver had placed within the top three in weight throw in five meets.
• Sophomore
Julia Petry (Batavia, N.Y.) continued to pace the Wildcats off the track, as well, as she placed 10
th in shot put (10.29 meters).
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will begin the outdoor portion of the schedule on March 29 at 10 a.m. when they head to the Highlander Invitational, hosted by Houghton University.
