AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen University men's and women's track & field programs will head to nearby Rochester, N.Y., to compete in the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan at Roberts Stadium. The meet is set to begin at 9 a.m.
Back on April 18 at the UB Alumni Invitational, sophomore
Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) earned another top three finish in the hammer throw and a pair of Wildcats runners earned top five finishes in the 5,000 meter to highlight the 'Cats efforts at the meet. Starting off the track, Oliver picked up her second consecutive top three finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.26 meters. Oliver was not the only member of the 'Cats to place within the top five as junior
Samantha Kabel landed in fourth (37.05). On the track, Daemen earned a pair of top five finishes in the 5,000 meter as graduate student
Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.) placed third (18:33.58) while junior
Patsy Oberholzer (Greece, N.Y.) finished in fifth (18:47.74). Graduate student
Emma Grzebinski (West Seneca, N.Y.) placed ninth out of 18 runners in the 800 meter with a final time of 2:28.12 while freshman
Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.) finished in fourth for the women's and established a new personal best in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.55).
As for the men, graduate student
John Jaworski (Naperville, Ill.) top five finish in the men's 200 meter dash and sophomore
Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.) performance in the long jump highlighted the Wildcats performances at the meet. Jaworski continued his torrid spring season as he placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.19 seconds. The Naperville, Ill., native also landed in fourth in the 100 meter dash (11.19) as well. He was not the only member of the 'Cats to place within the top five of the 200 meter dash as sophomore
Seth Connery (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) finished close behind in fourth (22.45). Sophomore
CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) placed 11th out of 34 runners in the 800 meter with a time of 1:59.41. Johnson also made history for Daemen as he finished the 1500 meter with a school record time of 4:03.48. At the jump pit, Dernbach set a new personal best and ended in sixth place with a final distance of 6.41 meters. The Wildcats ended the meet on a high note as the 4 x 400 meter relay comprised of sophomore
Mike Swartz (North Tonawanda, N.Y.),
Brad Tobin (Hamburg, N.Y.), Johnson and Kamagate placed third with a time of (3:36.66).
