AMHERST, N.Y. — The Daemen University men's and women's track and Field teams resume their indoor season on Saturday, competing at the Brockport Invitational.

Last season at the Brockport Invitational, the women earned a first-place finish and three silver medals, while the men collected two gold medals and a third-place result.

Saturday's meet will be the second indoor competition after the Wildcats opened the season at the Houghton December Classic on Dec. 5. The men had two first-place finishes and one third-place result at the Houghton meet, with CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) and Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) leading the way.

Johnson's results earned him ECC Runner of the Week on Dec. 9. It marked the second time in his career that the junior had earned a track weekly honor from the conference, following his Athlete of the Week accolade once during the outdoor season last year.

Keating earned gold in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 15:33.16, ranking third in program history. Johnson won the mile race, finishing in 4:30.35. It marked a PR for the junior and broke the program record that he previously held by just over a second. In the 3,000 meters, Johnson had another strong performance, taking third after posting a time of 9:15.08.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Devon Mendez (Hartford, Conn.) placed seventh in the final with a time of 9.10 seconds. Off the track, junior Owen Dernbach finished 20th in the long jump with a final leap of 5.92 meters.

The Wildcat women had top-three finishes in running events from Patsy Oberholzer (Greece, N.Y.) and their 4x400 relay team. Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) also recorded a second-place result in the weight throw.

Oberholze placed third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:20.28.  Kylie Piekarski (Lancaster, N.Y.) came in two places behind her in fifth at 20:16.72.  The 4x400 relay team of Skylar Savage (Attica, N.Y.), Christa Oates (Tonawanda, N.Y.), Delaney Kaiser (Fredonia, N.Y.), and Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.) took third place, coming in at 4:24.49.
