The Wildcats recorded six top-five finishes, including silver-medal performances from Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) in the 3000m and Ibrahim Hakizimana (Rochester, N.Y.) in the 600m. Simon Evans (Galway, N.Y.) also took third in the mile and fourth in the 3000m. HIGHLIGHTS Evans started the day with a third-place finish in the mile, posting a time of 4:35.35. It marked the first top-three finish of his collegiate career. Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) took fifth in the 60m hurdles preliminaries with a time of 8.87 seconds. He then bested that time in the finals, finishing in 8.80 seconds and in fifth place. In the 600m run, Hakizimana earned a silver medal after crossing the finish line in 1:25.90. Fellow freshman Brendan Smukall (Buffalo, N.Y.) came in fourth with a personal-best time of 1:33.86. Josh Trometer (Lancaster, N.Y.) finished 11th in the 800m, posting a time of 2:09.42. In the 3000m, Keating placed second with a personal-best time of 9:03.30. Evans came in fourth, finishing in 9:23.61. The Wildcats' 4x400 team of CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.), Hakizimana, Brad Tobin (Hamburg, N.Y.), and Smukall logged a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:49.96. In the jump pit, Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.) placed 13th in the long jump, leaping 5.65m. UP NEXT The Wildcats are back in action next weekend, competing at the YSU Mid Major Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
