YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A group of athletes from the Daemen men's track and field team competed at the YSU Mid Major Invitational on Friday. 

Leading the way was CJ Johnson, who placed seventh in the 5000m run with a personal-best time, and Ibrahim Hakizimana, who took seventh in the 1000m.

 HIGHLIGHTS 

• Johnson finished the 500m in 15:17.18, shaving 35 seconds off his previous best time and moving up to second in program history in the event. 
• Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) also ran in the 5000m, finishing in 15:36, three seconds off his PR that ranks fourth in the program record books.  Simon Evans placed 24th with a time of 15:52.84, shaving 14 seconds off his previous time and moving into seventh in program history. 
• In the 1000m, Hakizimana finished in 2:35.32, earning him seventh place. 

UP NEXT 
The Wildcats are back in action Saturday, competing at the Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup.
