Wildcats Make Short Trip to Compete at UB Alumni Invite on Friday

AMHERST, N.Y. — The Daemen men's and women's track & field teams will make the short trip to the University at Buffalo on Friday to compete at the UB Alumni Invite. 

Daemen competed at the UB Alumni Invite last season. For the men, Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles, and Seth Connery (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) came in behind him in fourth. Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.) took sixth in the long jump. On the women's side, Julia Petry (Batavia, N.Y.) placed third in the shot put at the meet last year, while fellow thrower Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) took third in the hammer throw. 
Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 400m hurdles, while Patsy Oberholzer (Greece, N.Y.) came fifth in the 5,000m. 

Last Sunday, the Wildcats competed in their second outdoor meet of the season at the Brockport Multi. 

The women were led by Oberholzer, who won the 10,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 39:13.18, ranking seventh in program history. She finished over four minutes ahead of the second-place runner and was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll. Oliver was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll after she placed third in the hammer throw invite with a toss of 45.26m, ranking fourth in program history. Mia Wright (Liverpool, N.Y.) finished fifth in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line in 26.49 seconds, ranking fifth in the program record book. Wright also took sixth in the 400m, logging a time of 59.68 seconds, good for second in program history. Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, logging a time of 17.64 seconds.

On the men's side, the Wildcats were led by a second-place finish by CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) in the 5,000-meter run. The junior posted a program record time of 15:21.99. Kamagate logged a pair of fourth-place finishes, first in the 110m  hurdles with a time of 15.77 seconds, ranking seventh in the program record books. He then placed fourth in the 400m hurdles, posting a time of 57.79, good for ninth in program history. Daemen's 4x100m relay team of Avon Adams (Tonawanda, N.Y.), Dernbach, Zayvion Davis (Lansing, N.Y.), and Connery took seventh with a time of 44.83 seconds.

Following Friday's action, the Wildcats will compete in their final regular-season meet, heading to St. John Fisher on April 25 for the Cardinal Classic.
