Khalid Scores for Second Straight Game, but Dragons Edge Wildcats, 2-1

AMHERST, N.Y. — Freshman Zainab Khalid (Penfield, N.Y.) scored for the second straight game, but Daemen fell 2-1 to Tiffin on Sunday at Royal Park.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Khalid put Daemen ahead in the 4th minute, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
  • The Dragons quickly responded with Callie Cacchione's goal at 6:53.
  • Tiffin then took the lead, 2-1, in the 52nd minute when Sam McPhee scored.
  • Macayla Hansen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had the Wildcats' first chance in the third minute, when she took a shot that got saved.
  • Hansen had another shot saved by the keeper in the 22nd minute.
  • Mia Wright (Liverpool, N.Y.) had a shot attempt blocked in the 29th minute.
  • Riley Kumer (Ambridge, Pa.) made a save in the 33rd minute to keep the score level.
  • In the 54th minute, Kumer made a beautiful diving save to deny the Dragons again.
  • The Wildcats logged two consecutive corners at 60:38 and 61:17, but they could not convert.
  • Taylor Fiegel (Lockport, N.Y.) ripped a long-range shot in the 63rd minute that was saved.
  • In the 66th minute, Lily Macfarlane (Murcott, England) ripped a shot off the crossbar.
  • Khalid had a shot blocked in the 80th minute, and Kaitlin Mettler's (Royalton, N.Y.) follow-up attempt went wide.
  • The Wildcats also had two more corners in the 82nd and 84th minutes.
GAME NOTES
  • Khlaid scored for the second straight game. She finished with two shots, including one on goal.
  • Fiegel posted a team-high three shots and put one on frame.
  • Hansen put both of her shot attempts on goal.
  • The Wildcats finished with 12 shots, including five shots on goal.
  • Daemen logged five corner kicks.
