NORTH CANTON, OH - The Walsh Cavaliers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game this afternoon vs. Daemen and went on to a 4-2 win. The loss, the second in as many days for the Wildcats, drops Daemen to 3-5 overall on the season while Walsh improves to 7-1. The game counts in the American Mideast Conference standings, although Walsh is not eligible for post-season play due to their status as transitioning to NCAA Division II.
Jordan Semple and Ben Truax notched the early Walsh goals before Daemen's
Zakariah Hall (Wells, England) cut the deficit to one with his marker in the 35th minute.
Truax then struck for his second of the game and ninth of the season, this one on a penalty kick, in the 40th minute to put Walsh ahead 3-1.
Freshman
Stephen Linderman (Tonawanda, NY) pulled Daemen within one with his second tally of the season in the 69th minute. Linderman beat the Walsh keeper on a free kick taken from the right corner of the box.
Walsh responded, however, just two minutes later when Truax found Chris Lynch on a crossing feed.
The Wildcats are now idle until October 8 when they begin a season-long four-game home-stand against Point Park.
