Box Score Fort Kent, Maine – Freshmen midfielder Curvin Bannister scored the game-winner for the University of Maine-Fort Kent in the second overtime with 26.5 seconds (110th minute) in a mutual USCAA season opening men's soccer match vs. Daemen College on Friday afternoon.
The game-winning goal was assisted by forward Neon Brown who raced down a long ball into the offensive third and then tapped a short crossing pass inside the box to Bannister.
UMFK (1-0) lost senior captain Jarryd Phillips after he received his second yellow card in the 18th minute of the first half. Despite playing down one man for the remainder of the match, the host Bengals were able to generate a high percentage of the scoring chances in the match as they out-shot Daemen 19-4.
Giovanni Sinclair recorded three saves on the day for the shutout win in goal for UMFK while
Matt Daddario (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home HS) had 15 saves for 0-1 Daemen.
