Wildcats Fall to UMFK In Home Opener 9/8/2013 3:42:00 PM Box Score AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's soccer team fell to 1-2-0 on the young season today after dropping a 6-0 decision to the visiting University of Maine-Fort Kent Bengals at Dimp Wagner Stadium this afternoon. With the win, the Bengals, upped their record to 4-0. Maine-Fort Kent, the 2012 USCAA National Championship runners-up, got on the board quickly when Kennard Brown snuck a shot past Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) from the right side after receiving the ball from Ben Kluvers in the 4th minute. The Wildcats had no answer for forward Willie Monthe who put his team ahead 3-0 with goals in the 40th and 43rd minutes of the game. The Bengals also got single tallies from Matt Dunn (48th minute) and Ross Downie (55th minute). To provide the final margin, Ben Kluvers was awarded a penalty kick in the 71st minute after being taken down in the box. The Wildcats were under pressure most of the game as junior goalkeeper Daddario was called upon to make five saves in the game. The Bengals launched 24 shots, placing 11 of them on frame. Daemen will be back in action at home on Saturday, Sept. 14 to take on the Buffalo State College Bengals.Print Friendly Version
