BOX SCOREWILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2014-15 schedule today by defeating Medaille College, 7-2, in the opening match of the Daemen/Medaille Invitational held at Miller Tennis Center.
Daemen swept through doubles play to open the match as the Wildcats were led in the match by newcomer
Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y./SUNY Geneseo). Â Hollins made her Daemen debut one to remember, teaming with classmate
Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-2 over Medaille's Liz Barrett and Maria Antsupova. Â Hollins went on to defeat Barrett in the No. 1 singles slot, 6-0, 6-0, as well.

Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and
Tianna Washington (North Chili, N.Y./Monroe CC) were also double-point winners for the Wildcats.
In addition to Scanlan and Hollins' doubles win, Scanlan won at No. 2 singles over Medaille's Samantha Dworzanki, 6-0, 6-0.
Ringler and Washington teamed up to defeat Jessica Smith and Cho Thiri Tun at No. 3 doubles, 8-2. Â Ringler also won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 over Medaille's Emily Insinna while Washington took down Smith at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Sophomore
Sarah Rohe (Freedom, N.Y./Fillmore Central) was the Wildcats' other victor in singles action, winning in the No. 6 slot against Thiri Tun, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
The win today moves Daemen to 6-10 overall this season, bringing them within two wins of last season's win total (8-15) with eight matches remaining on their spring slate.
Daemen continues its play in the tournament on Sunday (Feb. 22) with matches against Alfred University (11:30 a.m.) and La Roche College (5 p.m.).
