DAEMEN SCOUTING REPORT (0-2, 0-0 ECC) Daemen returns 11 players from last year's team that finished 5-17 overall and 0-5 in the East Coast Conference...gone is familiar face Gregory Lowe who was lost to graduation, leaving as the program's all-time leader in singles victories (32), total singles matches (77), singles winning percentage (.427), doubles victories (30), total doubles matched (77) and doubles winning percentage (.400)...among the returners is Mark Veitengruber who opens his junior season just eight singles wins why of breaking Lowe's program record...Veitengruber went 13-16 in singles play last season, establishing a new team record for singles wins in a season...also, senior John LeMar returns and he sits just nine doubles wins shy of breaking Lowe's program record...the Wildcats also return sophomore David Gonzalez Villegas who went 6-9 in singles and 7-10 in doubles last season...his season was interrupted by an injury at the end of the fall season, but his return to the lineup late in the spring coincided with Daemen winning three of their final five matches of the season...the Wildcats opened the season with a 9-0 loss in dual-match play to Fairmont State on Sept. 10, and are coming off an 8-1 defeat to Division I Niagara earlier this week...in between, the Wildcats hosted the Daemen Invitational, a four-team tournament from Oct. 1-4...John LeMar, James Schaab-Rozbicki and John Wilson lead the team with matching .500 singles records (1-1) thus far...in doubles play, Andrew LeMar has teamed with freshman Fabian Wilde to go unbeaten together (3-0) in the early going...also, Veitengruber and sophomore Justin Milner claimed the championship of the "A" doubles bracket at the Daemen Invitational earlier this week...they've posted a 3-1 record together this season. HOUGHTON SCOUTING REPORT (1-0, 0-0 E8) Houghton is a member of NCAA Division III and the Empire 8 Conference...the Highlanders are led by fourth-year head coach Charlie Ellis who has led the team to a 22-26 record to date...Ellis' squad is coming off its most successful season ever after posting a 10-7 mark in 2015-16...the Highlanders return 10 players from their 2015-16 team...among the returners is senior Jordan Scott who earned second-team All-Empire 8 honors for singles after posting a 10-4 individual record...Scott was also a first-team all-league pick in doubles with fellow returner Bjorn Webb...the duo posted a 7-2 record together in doubles play last season...Saturday's match will be Houghton's first since a 5-4 win over Pitt-Bradford in their 2016-17 season opener back on Sept. 9.
