McCoy recently sat down for a video interview to preview his team's 2017 season. WILDCATS PICKED 10TH IN ECC PRESEASON POLL Following a vote of the league's head coaches, Daemen has been picked to finish 10th in the East Coast Conference this season. The Wildcats went 2-15 overall and 0-9 in league play last season. LIU Post, which has won four of the last five ECC titles, was voted as the unanimous favorite this season, and the Pioneers open the year ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II preseason poll. NEWCOMERS GALORE The biggest storyline heading into the 2017 season for Daemen is the number of new players on the roster, 24 of them to be exact, including 22 freshmen. Freshman Niklas Ringdahl Bohlin, a 6-foot midfielder, has been impressive enough in preseason training camp to have earned co-captain honors. Graduate student Ross Stewart. who played in 32 of a possible 35 games over two seasons at Davis & Elkins College, brings experience at the Division II level to Daemen's defense. Up front, look for an immediate impact from freshman striker Kristian Aadnoy. And between the pipes, its been a three-way battle in training camp between freshmen Mitchell Coll, Jarrett Lecceadone and Mike D'Amato. REID RETURNS The Daemen lineup got a boost with the return of red-shirt senior forward Alex Reid who missed all of the 2016 season due to injury. Reid, who appeared in the 50th game of his career this past Monday vs. Stonehill, has totaled 13 goals, seven assists and 33 points. Three of Reid's tallies have been of the game-winning variety, including two in wins over rival Roberts Wesleyan. INTERNATIONAL FLAIR Daemen's roster features 11 international players - the most in team history. All three of the team's goals in their opening two games have come from European-born freshmen. Niklas Ringdahl Bohlin scored on a penalty kick in the Wildcats' 3-1 loss to Le Moyne last Wednesday, while Samuel Lockman and Brage Wiik both notched their first career goals in Saturday's 3-2 loss at Assumption. SKYHAWKS GROUNDED Daemen picked up its first win of the season in dramatic fashion on Labor Day as freshman Finn Krueger scored a header goal in the 88th minute to snap a 2-2 tie. Fellow freshman Niklas Ringdahl Bohlin carried the ball through the midfield and sent a perfect crossing feed to the back post where Krueger finished the play with the first tally of his career. Freshman Kristian Aadnoy scored a pair of goals in the win, including the game-tying marker in the 62nd minute as the Wildcats erased a 2-1 halftime deficit. The win snapped a seven-game skid dating back to the last season, and a 31-game winless streak against NCAA Division II opponents which dated back to the 2015 season. WALSH SCOUTING REPORT Walsh is in its first season as a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after leaving the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at the conclusion of last season. The Cavaliers are coached by Andy Hoggarth who is in his second season with the program, having led the team to a 6-10-2 overall record in 2016. Walsh returns 18 players from its 2016 roster, including seven who made at least 10 starts. Headlining the team's returners is sophomore defender Gary Canam, an Ontario native who was one of three Cavaliers to start all 18 contests last season, earning honorable mention All-GLIAC honors along the way. Sophomore forward Myles Cornwall is the team's leading scorer among returners; he posted three goals and two assists (8 pts) as a true freshman in 2016. Walsh was picked ninth in the GMAC preseason poll, and the Cavaliers have opened the season with two wins and a tie in their first three games. Wins have come over Slippery Rock (1-0) and GMAC foe Malone (5-1), and the tie was a 3-3 affair at home vs. Salem International. Newcomer J.P. Alexis scored twice in the win over Malone this past Wednesday, and he leads the team with eight points (3 gls, 2 asts). Between the pipes, incumbent starter Tom Jackson has seen the bulk of the work, posting a 1.02 goals-against average and a .813 save percentage thus far. BLOOMSBURG SCOUTING REPORT Bloomsburg is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and the Huskies are led by Paul Payne who is in his 19th season as the team's head coach. Payne has led BU to a 141-164-32 overall record in his tenure, along with seven PSAC Tournament berths. The Huskies are coming off a 3-12-3 campaign in 2016, and they return 15 players, including six who made at least 10 starts. Redshirt senior forward Austin Transue returns after leading the Huskies in goals (6), points (14), shots (41) and shots on goal (18) last season. The Huskies were picked ninth ouf of 12 teams in the PSAC preseason poll. They have opened the season with back-to-back losses ro Georgian Court (1-0) and Goldey-Beacom (5-2).
