Women's Cross Country Places 13th At Yellowjacket Invitational

FULL RESULTS

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's cross country team ran to a 13th place finish out of 16 competing teams at the Yellowjacket Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester today at Genesee Valley Park. It marked the Wildcats' first competition since opening the season September 1 with a third place finish at the Daniel Walker Invitational.

The State University of New York at Geneseo placed all five of their scorers in the top nine finishers to run away with the team title today, accumulating a race-low 28 points. The Knights edged out race host Rochester who finished second with 51 points. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (99), Ithaca College (106) and the College at Brockport (142) rounded out the top five teams today.

Rochester's Rachel Bargabos took home individual honors after pacing the field of 212 competitors with a 6K time of 22:45.6. Geneseo's Elise Ramirez (23:04.3) and Taylor Rettig (23:12.1) finished second and third, respectively.

Sophomore Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) was the top runner for the Wildcats today. Warner placed 71st overall with a time of 25:49.9. Not far behind was freshman Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) who placed 76th with a time of 25:56.4.

Newcomer Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) crossed the finish line in 27:24.6, finishing 138th in her debut race for the Wildcats. Freshman Ryan James (Buffalo, N.Y.) and sophomore Ashley Dusza (Alden, N.Y.) rounded out the Wildcats' scorers. James placed 148th with a time of 27:49.3, and Dusza finished 178th with a time of 29:12.7.

Junior Shania LiVecchi (West Seneca, N.Y.), freshman Mia Picciano (Auburn, N.Y.) and sophomore Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y.) also raced for the Wildcats today. LiVecchi finished 192nd with a time of 30:28.0. Picciano came in 196th with a time of 31:15.4, while Mucha came in just behind at 197th with a time of 31:27.9. 

Daemen will return to Rochester next Saturday, September 22 for the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College.
