AMHERST, N.Y. - Sullivan Keller (Alden, N.Y.) of the Daemen College men's track and field team has been named the East Coast Conference Field Athlete of the Week for competitions held April 1-7. The announcement came via the league's weekly sport report released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y.

Keller, a 6-foot-3 junior thrower, paced the Wildcats during two competitions last week. He posted top-10 finishes in all six events he entered between the Allegany County Classic (held April 2) and the Dave Labor Invitational (held April 6).

Keller opened the week by placing first in four throwing events - the shot put, discus, hammer and javelin - at the Allegany County Classic. His performance including record-breaking throws in the hammer and shot put. Keller exceeded the team's hammer throw record with a 46.23-meter toss, surpassing the previous mark (35.38 meters) set by Patrick Dorsey in 2015. Keller's long toss in the shot put (14.29 meters) broke a six-year old team record set by Mark Fox (13.90 meters in 2013). His 41.99-meter effort in the javelin also marked the best for any ECC thrower so far this season.

Keller entered the shot put and hammer events Saturday at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University. He finished in the top-six in both events, and broke his own shot put mark with a throw of 14.53 meters.

Keller is the sixth Daemen athlete to garner ECC Field Athlete of the Week honors during the outdoor track and field season, and the first since Shaquille Corrica last April.

Keller has had a dominant season so far. He has already racked up eight top-six finishes during three outdoor meets. Between the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, the Daemen junior has earned five all-conference accolades during his career.

Keller and his teammates will return to action on Sunday, April 14 at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.
