DOUG WATTS OPEN - FULL RESULTS
EDINBORO, Pa. - The Daemen College women's cross country team ran to a seventh-place finish out of 11 competing teams today at the season-opening Doug Watts Open hosted by Edinboro University. Three Daemen runners earned top-30 finishes in the 6K race that featured 118 competitors.
Seton Hill University claimed first place with five runners finishing in the top-10. Edinboro's Stephanie Parsons placed first individually, pacing the field with a time of 22:26.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Redshirt sophomore Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) paced the Wildcats today, placing 14th with a career-best 6K time of 24:37. It marked the second top-20 finish of Nolet's career as she shattered her previous career-best time (25:43.40) which she set at last season's regional championship meet.
- Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) and Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) also earned top-30 finishes for the Wildcats. Warner, who was Daemen's top finisher in six of seven races last season, placed 23rd with a time of 25:03. Golas finished in 30th place with a time of 25:29, just 10 seconds off her career-best pace.
- Juniors Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y.) and Ashley Dusza (Alden, N.Y.) rounded out Daemen's scorers today, placing 57th and 75th, respectively.

"Our women had a good opener in a very competitive field. Kassandra led the way with a big personal best. Savannah and Sarah were not far behind."
RACE NOTES
- Daemen was making its first-ever appearance at the Doug Watts Open, and competing in the state of Pennsylvania for the first time since 2014
- The race featured four teams ranked in the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region preseason poll: No. 1 Edinboro (also ranked 23rd nationally), No. 4 Seton Hill, No. 7 Slippery Rock and No. 9 Mercyhurst.
- After Seton Hill, Mercyhurst placed second, Edinboro placed third and Slippery Rock placed fourth.

The Wildcats return to racing next Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational.
