Keller Earns ECC Weekly Award

Senior Thrower Named ECC Field Athlete of the Week

AMHERST, N.Y. - Sullivan Keller (Alden, N.Y.) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for competitions held January 20-26. The announcement of ECC weekly awards was made this afternoon in the league's weekly sport report. Keller, a 6-foot-3 senior thrower, becomes just the fourth Daemen athlete to earn Field Athlete of the Week honors during an indoor season, and the first since Alex Reid in 2015.

Keller posted a pair of top-two finishes in throwing events at the Highlander Invitational hosted last Friday (January 24) by Houghton College. He placed first out of 11 competitors in the shot put with a toss of 14.52 meters. It marked his second-straight first-place finish in the shot put after also doing so at the RIT Invitational on January 18. Keller went on to place second in the weight throw with a toss of 13.55 meters.

Keller has had a storied career for the Wildcats, earning eight all-conference accolades between the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. He's been a second-team All-ECC performer in the shot put during each of the last two indoor seasons, and holds the team's indoor record for the weight throw (14.31 meters). Today's weekly award is the second of his career. He was named ECC Field Athlete of the Week last April during the Wildcats' outdoor campaign.

Keller and the Wildcats will return to action Saturday, February 8 at the Brockport Multi, followed two weeks later (February 22) by the ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Staten Island, N.Y.
