Freshman Jon Moote posted a personal best time in the 1,500 meters Men’s Track & Field Concludes Season At Redhawk Capstone Meet Five Runners Post Personal Best Times 5/14/2021 10:22:00 PM By: Tom McDermott REDHAWK CAPSTONE MEET — FULL RESULTS ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's track and field team closed out its 2020-21 season by taking part in the Redhawk Capstone Meet held this afternoon on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College. Daemen sent a limited roster to the event, which featured Division I, II and III schools from across the state. The meet did not include team scoring. HIGHLIGHTS Five runners posted personal best times this afternoon to highlight the track portion of the event for Daemen. Sophomore John Bruggman (Batavia, N.Y.) placed 15th out of 31 runners in the 800 meters with the personal best time of 1:59.54. He eclipsed his previous best time of 2:09.79 that he posted at the University at Buffalo Invitational earlier this year. Bruggman was one of four Daemen runners in the 800 meters. Sophomore Dominic Clementi (Barker, N.Y.) also came in under two minutes and placed 19th with a time of 1:59.82—narrowly missing his personal best time 1:58.77. Freshman Connor O'Brien (Hamburg, N.Y.) ran the 800 for second time during this outdoor season and posted a personal best time of 2:03.75. Fellow rookie Steven Blatto (Lancaster, N.Y.) ran the 800 for the first time as a collegian and posted a time of 2:15.94. Freshman Phil Ceccarelli (Hamburg, N.Y.) competed in the 400 meter run and posted a personal best time of 52.88—eclipsing his previous best time of 53.40 that he set during the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships two weeks ago. Freshman Jon Moote (Wilson, N.Y.) posted a time of 4:09.91 in the 1,500 meters. That time was three seconds better than his previous best effort of 4:12.49 he posted at the University at Buffalo Twilight Invitational. Blatto also ran the 1,500 meters and posted a time of 4:41.91. Freshman David Schwinger (Buffalo, N.Y.) ran the 5,000 meters for just the second time as a collegian and finished with a personal best time of 17:45.11. Redshirt sophomore Erik Matthews (Galway, N.Y.) competed in four events today. The reining ECC individual medalist in the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles, he ran both of those events today as well. He posted a 16.79 in the qualifying round of the 110 meter hurdles and placed seventh in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.81. He also placed 12th in the long jump (6.15 meters) and ninth in the triple jump (12.12 meters) today. Junior Henry Moffitt (Sydney, Australia) returned to action today after earning individual medalist honors in the triple jump at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships two weeks ago with a school record leap of 13.17 meters. He turned in another solid effort in the triple jump today, placing seventh with a leap of 12.38 meters. He also took part in the high jump (1.80 meters) and the long jump (4.45 meters).
