COMPLETE RESULTS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's track and field team was back in action today competing against a mixed field at the Roberts Wesleyan College Invitational. The event featured teams from around the region, ranging from community colleges up to the NCAA Division I level, including the likes of Canisius College.
Sophomore
Sam Rugg (Freeville, N.Y./Dryden) continued his solid outdoor season today by placing sixth in the long jump finals and seventh in the 200 meter dash. Rugg leaped 6.07 meters in the long jump while his time of 23.84 seconds in the 200 meters was only three-tenths of a second out of finishing in the top three.
Fifth-year senior long distance man
Brett Smith (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) finished sixth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:24.36 while senior thrower
Mark Fox (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) added a seventh place finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.61 meters.
Senior
Corey Pepero (Orchard Park, N.Y./Erie CC) performed well also, finishing in 12th place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:06.19.
A change to the team's original schedule has them traveling to Alfred State College next Friday (April 19) instead of partaking in the SUNY Geneseo Invitational on Saturday which was cancelled by the host instituion. Friday's meet will serve as the Wildcats' final tune up in preparation for the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held April 27-28.
