BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's track and field team closed out its 2015 schedule by taking part in the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational here today.
On the track, Daemen was paced today by junior Jeremy Rushok (Akron, N.Y./Buffalo State College) and sophomore Nigel Cordulla (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy). Â Rushok topped a three-entrant field in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:39.10, while Cordulla ran to a third-place showing in the 800-meter run (2:01.24).
Additional top-10 finishes on the track came from junior Brandon Tytka (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster), sophomore Matt VanDeMortel (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva), Â and seniors Ethan Dinan (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) and Zach Eustance (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton).
Tytka came in ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.99 seconds. Â He also added a 13th-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.92 seconds).
VanDeMortel backed up Cordulla for Daemen's strong showing in the 800-meter run, finishing seventh with a time of 2:02.45.
Dinan and Eustance, both competing in the final meet of their careers, finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run. Â Dinan (4:26.75) slightly out-paced his teammate, Eustance (4:28.22).
In field events, sophomores Alex Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and Brandon Damato (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) paced the Daemen effort.  Reid finished fourth out of nine entrants in the long jump, leaping 6.36 meters.  He added  a 12th-place finish on the track in the 100-meter dash as well, just edging out Tytka with a time of 11.72 seconds.
Damato brought home ninth-place and 12th-place finishes in a pair of throwing events. Â A 12.72-meter toss in the shot put was good for his first top-10 finish of the season, while he sent the discus flying 30.35 meters in the latter.
