OBERLIN, Ohio - Freshman Nick Marlin (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) set new school records in the javelin and high jump as the Daemen College men's track and field team competed at the Bob Kahn Invite hosted by Oberlin College.  Daemen amassed 27 total points to finish in sixth place in the team standings today.

Marlin accounted for six total points between his two events.  The greenhorn finished in fifth (four points) in the javelin with a throw of 34.01 meters.  That bettered his preliminary-round throw (23.09 meters) by nearly 11 meters.  He also picked up two points in the high jump bu virtue of his sixth-place finish (1.82 meters).

Daemen picked up nine points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  Kevin Roginson (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) finished in fourth place (10:32.51), earning five points, while teammate Matt McCann (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) came in fifth place (10:33.08) to pick up a quartet's worth of points.

Senior Zach Eustance (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) was a five-point scorer with his fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (16:09.50).  

The Wildcats also picked up points from freshman thrower Patrick Dorsey (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) who finished seventh (two points) in the shot put (12.07 meters).

Daemen returns to action next weekend (Saturday, April 11) at the Roc City Classic hosted by Nazareth College.
