Men's Track & Field 4/23/2018 9:34:00 PM By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications Corrica & Keller Lead Wildcats At Alfred State Invitational ALFRED, N.Y. - Shaquille Corrica (New York City, N.Y.) finished first in both the long and triple jumps, and Sullivan Keller (Alden, N.Y.) posted top-five finishes in three of the four throwing events that he entered to lead the Daemen College men's track and field team to a fifth-place showing at the Alfred State Invitational today at Pioneer Stadium. The Wildcats, who were just 48 hours removed from hosting the 2018 East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, accumulated 47 points in the team standings today which were topped by Alfred State with 202 points. Corrica eclipsed the team triple jump record for the third consecutive meet, doing so today with a long leap of 12.85 meters. He had first broken the record at the Cortland Please Stop Snowing Invitational on April 13 with a leap of 12.69 meters. Corrica went on to better that with a jump of 12.70 meters at Saturday's conference championship meet which was good for a fourth-place finish. His best effort today was more than six-tenths of a meter better than any other competitor. Also the team record holder in the long jump (6.67 meters), Corrica was short of that distance today but still placed first with a leap of 6.52 meters. He also added a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.97 seconds. Keller continued his strong sophomore season by placing first in the javelin (42.77 meters), fourth in the shot put (11.64 meters), fourth in the hammer throw (38.82 meters), and ninth in the discus (30.19 meters). Daemen's abbreviated squad also included a trio of runners who posted top-20 finishes in the 1,500-meter run. That group was led by sophomore Josh Bodnar who placed 10th with a time of 4:23.18. He was the first non-Division I finisher as runners from Canisius College took first through ninth in the race. Freshman Mike Swiniarski (Akron, N.Y.) placed 15th with a time of 4:27.02, and sophomore Cale Silvestri (Elma, N.Y.) finished 18th with a time of 4:38.74. Daemen is back in action this Saturday, April 28 at the Buffalo Invitational which is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at UB Stadium. Print Friendly Version
