Brundage Named ECC Defensive Player of the Week

9/27/2021 4:40:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. - Sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played September 20-26. The official announcement was made this afternoon in the ECC's weekly women's volleyball report

Brundage continued to be a key cog in the Wildcats' defensive arsenal last week as she averaged 4.22 digs per set across three matches, helping the Wildcats go 2-1 with conference wins over Queens (N.Y.) and Molloy. Daemen sits at 7-6 overall and 2-0 in conference play following last weekend's action.

After playing in two sets and totaling six digs as Daemen breezed by Queens on Saturday afternoon, Brundage was especially good in a double dip of action Sunday. She totaled 13 digs (4.33 digs/set) and added three service aces in the Wildcats' 3-0 victory against preseason ECC favorite Molloy. She followed up with 19 digs (4.75 digs/set) in a 3-1 non-conference loss to Southern Connecticut State.

Brundage collects ECC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time in four weeks. She was previously recognized during weeks one and two of the 2021 season. Daemen has had at least one weekly award recipient every week thus far.

Through the first 13 matches of the campaign, Brundage has appeared in 49 of a possible 50 sets. She leads the ECC in total digs (195) and digs per set (3.98).

Brundage and the Wildcats make their home debut this week, kicking off a three-match homestand Thursday when they host long-time rival Roberts Wesleyan with first serve set for 6 p.m.
