The Daemen College men's soccer team wraps up the home portion of its 2016 schedule this weekend by hosting East Coast Conference foes N.Y. Institute of Technology and Long Island University Post...LIU Post comes to Amherst ranked No. 1 in the East Region and No. 5 in the country.

ON THE SIDELINES
Daemen: Bobby McColl enters his first season at the helm for Daemen after spending the last three seasons as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Roberts Wesleyan College...McColl's tenure at Roberts Wesleyan notably came during that program's ascent to the NCAA Division II level of competition, compiling a 35-20-5 record in that span, including a 12-5-3 mark last season in which McColl led the Redhawks to an apparance in the East Coast Conference Tournament finals and at-large berth in the NCAA Division II National Championships....prior to his time in Rochester, McColl served for one season as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Greenville College (Ill.), leading that NCAA Division III program to a 10-6-3 mark and a second-place finish in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference...a native of Glasgow, Scotland, McColl came stateside to compete collegiately, playing three season at Union University (Tenn.) before finishing his career at Trinity International University (Ill.).
   
DAEMEN SCOUTING REPORT (2-12-0, 0-6-0 ECC)
Daemen returns 13 players from last year's team that finished 2-13-1 overall and 0-9-1 in the East Coast Conference…first-year head coach Bobby McColl returns the team's top two scorers and starting goalkeeper from last year...…sophomore Kyle Tracy and senior Alex Reid shared the team lead in scoring last season, both posting 10 points....Tracy's point total came on his team-leading five goals...Reid has scored 13 goals in his career and totaled 33 points heading into his final season for the Wildcats...sophomore net-minder Justin Figler played every second of every game last season as a true freshman, finishing second in the ECC with 88 saves...also back is senior forward Cole Beale who notched a team-high five goals and 11 points in 2014…in the midfield, Daemen returns a pair of veterans in Nick Sammarco and Logan Podrebarac...Sammarco has made 34 starts in his career to date while Podrebarac started in 14 of his 15 appearances last season while posting five points...senior Austin Stephany returns to anchor the Wildcat defense...he's made 30 appearances in the last two seasons, including 29 starts, since transferring from Division I Buffalo...newcomers who are expected to make an immediate impact include senior forward Colin Edwards, a transfer from Tiffin University, and freshmen backs Kyle White and Joe Keem...Daemen was picked 10th in the 2016 ECC preseason poll...Daemen snapped a six-game slide with last Friday's 6-1 non-conference win over Washington Adventist...freshman forward Ali Shawish scored three goals while classmates Chris Ellis and Connor Pendleton also found the back of the net, as did senior Cole Beale...Shawish's "hat trick" was the first for a Daemen player since 2013...he was subsequently named the ECC Rookie of the Week...Daemen has lost two straight heading into this weekend's action, including a crushing 3-2 (OT) loss at Pitt-Johnstown earlier this week...Edwards put Daemen on the board with his second penalty kick goal of the season, less than three minutes into the game, and Shawish netted his team-leading seventh marker of the season in the loss...freshman Steve Geffert made his third start of the season between the pipes...Shawish leads the team and ranks seventh in the ECC with 15 points...additional offensive production has come from Edwards (2 gls, 3 asts, 7 pts) and Beale (3 gls, 1 ast, 7 pts)...freshman midfielder Kamran Salehi made his season debut on Oct. 5 vs. Roberts Wesleyan and has notched a pair of assists in the last four games...Figler remains the team's primary net-minder as he's made 11 starts...ranks third among ECC goalkeepers with 42 total saves...he posted the second shutout of his career in a 1-0 win over D'Youville on Sept. 11.
    
NYIT SCOUTING REPORT (7-3-2, 2-1-1 ECC)
NYIT is led by longtime head coach Carlos Delcid who is in the midst of his 15th season at the helm...in 2011, Delcid coached the Bears to their first ECC Tournament title...the Bears bring back 18 players from their 2015 team which went 12-6-1 overall and 7-3-0 in ECC play, earning the No. 2 seed to the ECC Tournament...NYIT advanced to the conference tournament finals after defeating Queens (2-1) in the semifinals, but saw their season come to an end against top-seeded LIU Post (3-0)...senior back Ben Wilson, a second-team All-ECC pick, and junior midfielder Carlos Coto, a third-team All-ECC pick, headline the Bears' returners...Wilson notched a team-high seven assists, ranking fifth in the ECC, as part of an 11-point season...Coto notched a goal and an assist last season...also back is sophomore forward/midfielder Simon-Peter Omooba who shared the team lead in goals (4) and points (11)...the Bears were picked second in the ECC preseason poll...NYIT is ranked No. 10 in the latest in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division II East Region poll...the Bears rebounded from a two-game skid in mid-September and are unbeaten (3-0-1) since Sept. 28, outscoring their opponents 9-3 in that span...NYIT is coming off a 2-2 (2OT) tie vs. conference foe Bridgeport...junior midfielder Krishan Patel has paced the NYIT offense with six goals, three assists and 15 points...he ranks seventh among all ECC players in points heading into this weekend...Martin Sundell has reached double-figure points (5 gls, 10 pts) for the Bears as well, while Wilson (2 gls, 5 asts, 9 pts) and Ion Barbarin Garcia (3 gls, 3 asts, 9 pts) are knocking on the door...junior net-minder Jonathan Rico has taken over as the team's primary option between the pipes with 12 starts this season...he leads the league with five shutouts while also ranking third in goals against average (1.09) and fourth in save percentage (.755).

LIU POST SCOUTING REPORT (9-0-1, 2-0-1 ECC)
Perennial powerhouse LIU Post is led by four-time ECC Coach of the Year Andreas Lindberg who has guided the Pioneers to a 128-33-15 record since taking the reins of the program in 2009...Lindberg has led LIU Post to NCAA Tournament berths in each of the last five seasons...the Pioneers welcome back 20 players from their 2015 team which finished with a 15-3-3 overall record after winning both the ECC regular season and tournament championships, and advancing to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year...among the returners are five players who earned all-league honors last season, including four first-teamers...senior goalkeeper Jesper Malmstrom is back after earning ECC Goalkeeper of the Year honors in 2015...Malmstrom led the league with six shutouts and ranked second in goals against average (1.04)...sophomore midfielder Charlie Ledula returns after earning ECC Rookie of the Year honors in 2015...he scored eight goals during his freshman campaign...also returning is junior back David Arvidsson, a 2015 first-team All-ECC pick and the 2016 ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year...senior forward Jason Lampkin also returns after posting 23 points (7 gls, 9 asts) last year...the Pioneers were picked first in the ECC preseason poll, and they enter this weekend's games ranked No. 1 in the East Region and No. 5 in the NSCAA NCAA Division II national poll...the Pioneers are coming off a 3-3 (2OT) tie with Mercy on Oct. 8 which snapped their nine-game winning streak to start the year...LIU Post leads the ECC and ranks sixth nationally in goals per game (3.10)...they also lead the league and rank ninth nationally in goals allowed per game (0.58)...Ledula has emerged as the team's top point-producer, leading the team in goals (11) and points (23), ranking second in the ECC in both categories...junior midfielder Harry Pearse ranks second in the league with seven assists, and has added seven goals for a total of 21 points...Lampkin has been limited to just five games...he returned in the game vs. Mercy after missing five games...Malmstrom has posted three shutouts in goal and has allowed just five goals in nine games played.
