Women's Tennis Wraps Up Stretch Of Five Straight Road Matches

The Daemen College women's tennis team its second five-match road swing of the season by visiting Long Island University Post for an East Coast Conference match Saturday, followed by a non-league battle with Caldwell University on Sunday.

ON THE SIDELINES
Daemen: Stephen Beatty enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats...over the course of his first three seasons, Beatty has guided the Daemen women's tennis team to a 24-46 record...a former collegiate player at Division II Northwood University (Mich.) and Division III D'Youville College, Beatty got his coaching start as an assistant to Kelly Brown, serving for one season - Daemen's inaugural season of tennis competition - before being promoted to the top post.
   
DAEMEN SCOUTING REPORT (4-8, 0-3 ECC)
Daemen returns seven players from last year's team that tied the program record for overall wins after finishing 8-16 overall and 1-6 in the East Coast Conference...among the returners are the duo of seniors Hayle Scanlan and Karli Hollins...Scanlan enters the season already ranking as the Wildcats' all-time leader in singles victories (33), total singles matches (76), doubles victories (33) and total doubles matches (77)...Hollins went 13-9 in singles play and 17-9 in doubles play, tying teammate Gretchen Ringler's single-season record for singles victories, and establishing a new program record for doubles wins...Ringler, who set the singles record as a freshman in 2014-15, is also back after earning nine more singles wins last season...that tied her for third on the team with fellow returners Jessica Robins and Delaney Fragale...Daemen was picked seventh in the ECC preseason poll...seven of Daemen's 12 matches this season have been decided by three points or less...the Wildcats snapped a four-match slide with a 6-3 win over Cedarville last Friday, and added a 9-0 shutout of Houghton on Saturday...back-to-back 9-0 defeats to Findlay and Walsh followed earlier this week...Hollins posted a 6-2, 6-2 win in first singles over Cedarville's Lauren Jackson, the 2015-16 GMAC Player of the Year, last Friday...Scanlan has gone 6-4 over her last 10 singles matches, and she leads the team with eight total singles wins...she posted the 40th singles win of her career in the defeat of Cedarville...sophomore Morgan Park picked up her first singles win of the season in the defeat of Houghton...Robins (6-8) and Shaylah Iverson (6-7) are tied for second on the team with six singles wins apiece...in doubles, play Ringler has posted a team-best 8-5 record with various partners.
   
LIU POST SCOUTING REPORT (3-1, 2-1 ECC)
LIU Post is led by second-year head coach Walter Giacometti... a former collegiate player at St. John's, Giacometti led the Pioneers to their third straight ECC Tournament berth last season...the Pioneers return six players from that 2015-16 team which went 6-7 overall and 4-3 in league play...among the returners is sophomore Shanice Arthur who earned ECC Rookie of the Year honors last season after leading the team with a 9-2 mark in singles play and adding seven doubles victories...LIU Post was picked fourth in the ECC preseason poll...the Pioneers have played just four dual-matches and one tournament so far this fall...they host Roberts Wesleyan on Friday before facing Daemen on Saturday...the Pioneers last competed at the ITA East Region Championships from Sept. 30-Oct. 2...the team's last dual-match was a 9-0 shutout victory over league foe Molloy on Sept. 23...newcomer Lara Scholtze, a transfer from Chestnut Hill, has posted a 6-1 singles mark, including a perfect 4-0 in dual-matches...Scholtze was a first-team All-CACC pick while playing for Chestnut Hill last season...sophomore Stanislava Klymova and senior Laura Harwell are each 3-1 in singles play, and Arthur has gone 2-2 thus far...in dobules play, Schlotze has teamed with freshman Charlotte Hynes to record a team-best 5-2 record.

CALDWELL SCOUTING REPORT (4-8, 1-5 CACC)
Caldwell is a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference...the Cougars are led by first-year head coach Justin Johnson, and they return five players from their 2015-16 team which went 4-10 overall and 1-6 in league play...Serbian national Tamara Klimek leads the CU returners after earning second-team All-CACC honors last season...she posted a team-best 9-5 mark in singles play and tied for the team lead with seven doubles wins as well...the Cougars were picked seventh in the CACC preseason poll...CU has lost six of their seven matches heading into the weekend...they snapped a five-match slide with a 6-3 non-conference win over Kutztown on Oct. 11, but dropped a 9-0 decision to CACC foe Wilmington on Oct. 13...the Cougars play at Philadelphia on Saturday before hosting Daemen on Sunday...newcomer Valeria Otarola has accounted for a third of the team's singles wins thus far, posting a 6-5 record while appearing in every spot in the lineup except for sixth...fellow newcomer Shannon Donaldson has gone 5-6 in singles play...in doubles play, Donaldson has teamed with freshman Janis Jimenez to post a 5-4 record together...Jimenez's individual doubles record of 6-6 is best on the team.
