3 THINGS TO KNOW HEADING INTO THE 2019-20 SEASON
1. The Wildcats will return eight players from their 2018-19 team that went 27-27 overall, three of whom were named the team's award winners at the Wildcat Night of Honors last May. The group of returners is headlined by junior Alex Syrotynski (East Greenbush, N.Y.) who earned team MVP honors after posting a 17.43 pins-per-frame average in traditional matches, as well as a 17.00 pins-per-frame average in Baker format contests. Katie Good (Hamburg, N.Y.) and Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) also return after posting traditional averages of better than 17.00 pins per frame. Hasiotis was the team's Wildcat Award recipient last season. Most Improved Player recipient Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) also returns.
2. The 2019-20 season marks the program's second under the direction of head coach Carrie Racsumberger. An accomplished bowler who has authored 15 games with a 300+ score, Racsumberger was appointed to the position shortly before the 2018-19 campaign and went on to guide the program to its second straight season with 25+ wins. In her inaugural recruiting class, Racsumberger added three newcomers to the program - Western New York products Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) and Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.), as well as Nicole Bergeron (Lima, N.Y.).
3. The Wildcats will open their fall season with five successive tournaments, beginning Oct. 12-13 with the Grapevine Classic hosted by Penn State Behrend. Additional tournaments include the Mount Shootout (Oct. 19-20, hosted by Mt. St. Mary's), the Medaille Invitational (Nov. 2-3, hosted by Medaille), the Redhawk Fall Rally (Nov. 9-10, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan) and the Wildcat Invitational (Nov. 15-17, hosted by Wilmington). Daemen will also meet St. Vincent (Nov. 23), Roberts Wesleyan (Dec. 6) and D'Youville (Dec. 8) in head-to-head matches, and the team's schedule will continue into the spring semester, culminating with the East Coast Conference Championships (Mar. 20-22 at Limerick, Pa.).
