Hailing from nearby North Tonawanda, N.Y., Adrienne Welka was a force at both ends of the floor for the Daemen women’s basketball team from 1999-2003. Named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, Welka became the first player in program history to record 1,000 rebounds, finishing her career with 1,010 in 118 games played. A two-time honorable mention All-Conference selection, she also earned Second Team All-NAC honors as a sophomore when she helped the Warriors win the league title. Welka added 1,116 points to her career resume and was inducted into the Daemen Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003.Â
